At the March 15 summit for LGBTQ leaders from around the state co-hosted by the Legislative LGBT Caucus and statewide LGBT advocacy group Equality California, Low told the B.A.R. that he now plans to file a nonbinding resolution this year with the hope of bringing forward legislation next year. "I am working on a resolution that both LGBT people and religious leaders can sign on to about the harm conversion therapy does to people," said Low.

Under the proposed Assembly Bill 1210 , anyone stealing a package from a home could be charged with a misdemeanor that includes a jail sentence of up to one year. A felony charge would result in a jail term of 16 months to three years. AB 1210, introduced by state Assemblyman Evan Low (D-28), covers packages that are “shipped through the mail or delivered by a public or private carrier" and applies to packages delivered to a porch, doorstep, patio, stoop, driveway, hallway or enclosed yard.

Assemblyman Evan Low, D-San Jose, would take the idea a step further. His bill, ACA8, would drop the voting age to 17 for every election, from mosquito abatement district all the way to president. The younger voting age would not only connect more teenagers to the political process but also give their concerns a better chance to be heard, Low said.

A state lawmaker from the Silicon Valley has reintroduced a constitutional amendment that would lower the California voting age to 17, betting that a larger Democratic majority in the Legislature this year will help his proposal reach the ballot. Low has made voter engagement and access to the polls a top priority. “Lowering the voting age will give a voice to young people and provide a tool to hold politicians accountable to the issues they care about,” Low said in a statement.

Assemblyman Evan Low, D-Campbell, on Wednesday reintroduced a bill in the California State Legislature to make Election Day a state holiday. The move was prompted by historically low voter turnout during the General Election in November 2014, according to Low's office, and hopes to remove financial roadblocks for low-income voters.

Gay conversion or reparative therapy is currently banned in 14 states and the District of Columbia for people under 18. Openly gay California lawmaker Evan Low decided to take this law a step further.

The California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training will update their standards to require ongoing training for law enforcement officers, administrators, executives, and dispatchers. In mid-January, the commission, which sets minimum selection and training standards for law enforcement in the state, will convene a committee of subject matter experts, including LGBTQ members of law enforcement, to develop the curriculum.

Assembly Bill 1968 by Assemblyman Evan Low, D-Campbell, imposes a lifetime gun ownership ban on a person who has been taken into custody as a danger to him or herself or others — known in police parlance as a “5150 hold” — twice in one year. Under existing law, such a person is barred from owning a firearm for five years after being released.
